    Accomplishments on a Mellow Monday

A tired mommy with a wobbly tummy utilizes the crock pot and sits in the backyard while watching her children squish tomatoes and dig in dirt. She is glad to have finished the boy's peter pan costume for next week. He is sure to be the only fuzzy fleece ( but warm) green guy trick-or-treating. Boy is exceedingly happy, though. Girl jumps in during the photo shoot and gives mom a grin. Aww. Kids are cute.

Any ideas on making a pan flute?

Please Help My Brain From Becoming Mush

I'm looking for reading suggestions...it seems like for a while now my reading has been primarily for information. I'm ashamed to say, but I think it's been like six months since I've finished a piece of fiction! I was telling Aaron that it would be nice to have reading assignments like in school. Maybe it's the fact that then I'd HAVE to finish it, maybe it's that I'm too lazy to remember which books I've been interested in reading....who knows.

Anyway....as the title says, please help my brain from becoming mush. Gimme some assignments. What has inspired you, moved you, impacted you, caught your interest?

For the record, I'm not really into things like the Shopaholics books or light supermarket stand novels or uneccessarily depressing things or glorification of immoral things . Other than that, I'm open, I think.

    So what'll it be?

How the Monkey Became a Goose

It's simple, really. I found a cute goose on an organic toys website and altered it a bit, using materials I had on hand and made it my style.

A friend of mine asked me to make her a soft animal and left the rest up to me...I like how she turned out, kinda autumnal and cozy. Her body is a cashmere knit from a shrunken sweater, the feet are cotton and the beak is wool felt. I've been making and selling human dolls with a Waldorf flair at a local boutique. They are so fun to make because they seem to come alive with unique little personalities. I think animals will be a fun new venture. Man that cup of coffee this mornning sure made a difference in my productivity level, scary.
A Morning in the Life of Boring 'ole Me

Katie posted about her day and asked others to share...I liked reading her's and wanted to share mine.

~ Wake up to the sound of B in the living room attempting to put on a movie for himself (an understood no no in the am).

~ Make and eat breakfast and drink a cup of A's french press (I know naughty, naughty)

~Read a stack of books to wee ones on the couch while trying not to spill aforementioned coffee

~ Get a sudden urge (no doubt caffine-induced) to clear out the scary top cupboard in the hall closet and do it

~ Tie a fabric cape and pin a white washcloth beard on the little "St. Nicholas" who was delivering pumpkins to animals around the living room

~ Snack with the kids...plums and cheerios, mmm.

~ Talk to the Jehovah's Witnesses who came to my door and politely take their booklet.

~ Think about the soft monkey gift I have to make and wonder when I'll do it

~ Put the Lincoln Log building and smashing kids down for a nap

~ Make myself a sandwich and cut an apple for lunch

~ Prayers and Computer time...blog, email, distract, generally waste time.

    The end for now

    What did you do today?

When You Think No One's Watching

This past weekend we went camping with my dad and sister at Carlsbad State Beach. We had a great time roasting marshmallows, digging in the sand, playing frisbee, and getting dirty. The campsites are up on a bluff that overlooks the vast, beautiful beach. Those itty bitty people down there are us...from left to right it's Basil, my dad's back, my profile, Juliana bending down, and Aaron standing tall. You just never know :)

    Kaboom to the Heart

"...unless questioned by the brethren the fathers said nothing that might contribute to the soul's salvation; they regarded unsolicited advice as vain chatter. This is quite right; for it is because we think that we know more than others that we speak unbidden."

    The Royal Court

King Basil and Queen Juliana make a comeback in the Plew castle.

    And I need suggestions...

Any good ideas for handmade gifts for couples/adults? Kids are easy. I'm just drawing a blank for a few people. My goal is to have Christmas gifts done by Thanksgiving. I know, lofty goal considering my hormone-induced lethargy. Hopefully I'll either be able to pull up my bootstraps or it will go away soon. Come on second trimester! Any suggestions for motivation on chores when your feeling woosy?
